Not Routinely Funded

The following treatments are not routinely funded:

• Laser lumbar Discectomy
• Endoscopic laser foraminoplasty
• Percutaneous endoscopic laser thoracic Discectomy
• Endoscopic division of epidural adhesions
• Percutaneous intradiscal electrothermal therapy
• Inter-spinous spacers
• Lumbar disc replacement and
• ‘Soft stabilisation’

Exceptions:

Patients requiring Lumbar Decompression due to Spinal Stenosis are exempt from this policy.

Cases for Individual Funding Consideration

On a case to case basis, patients might be eligible for surgical intervention, in consideration of their exceptionality. The requesting clinician must provide information to support the case for being considered an exception, by submitting an individual funding request.
